On 23 June, a research workshop on study techniques in marine protected areas was held at the CICA research centre, part of the Universidade da Coruña.
The event was organised by Dr Pablo Pita (Universidade da Coruña) and Dr José A. García Charton (Universidad de Murcia).
AllGenetics’ project area manager and DNA metabarcoding expert, Dr Neus Marí-Mena, gave a talk titled “DNA in the sea: applications, potential, and challenges for environmental monitoring”.
Other speakers at the workshop included: Dr José A. García Charton, Víctor Orenes Salazar, Dr Alejo J. Irigoyen, Dr Pablo Pita, Dr Camilo Saavedra, Encarnación Olivares Martínez, and Dr Paula Suárez-Bregua.
The workshop brought together researchers working on innovative tools to study and monitor marine biodiversity, especially in protected areas.
